The Romanian SKS, known as the Model 56, is a Cold War-era semi-automatic carbine made at the Cugir arsenal in the late 1950s and a favorite among military surplus collectors. Like other SKS rifles it is gas operated and fed from a fixed 10-round magazine loaded by stripper clip, with a hardwood stock and upper handguard. Romanian examples are known for their AK-style wood furniture and are typically seen with a folding bayonet. Features: 7.62x39mm caliber; approx. 20.5-inch barrel; fixed 10-round magazine; semi-automatic gas-operated action; hooded front post and tangent leaf rear sight; wood stock with buttstock storage compartment.
